Today was a monumental day indeed.

Today patriotism and self-interest coincided.

I did what my leaders told me to do.

I did the economic equivalent of flag waving,

And deposited money into my IRA.

"Dubya" tells me the American economy is open or business.

Giuliani implores me to spend my money to show the world we are strong.

Let’s all sing "God Bless America" and go make some cash.

On paper I am the perfect American.

An ideal patriot.

But make no mistake, this act I did for me.

I am looking out for my self-interests.

No other.

I hope to profit from others’ panic.

In this sense I am the perfect American,

A capitalist.
